Production ceased in 1969, only to be launched again in 1976, as an original reverse bodied guitar, known as the Thunderbird 76. Sales were moderate but not improved when the instrument was designed as a non-reverse model in 1965. Amplification sent overseas is not returnable under any circumstaces unless damaged upon arrival. A serial number starting with 00 was made in 1976 and one starting with 06 was made in 1977.If you are happy to buy over the internet, I will send you as much information about the bass guitar you're interested in as I can, and if you require more high resolution photos dont hesitate to ask. You can tell which year a Thunderbird was made by its serial number. Most of the production was actually in 1977 due to the fact that it took them a long time to ramp up production in 1976 and had to carry it over to 1977 in order to fill their dealers orders. Made only in 1976, the Thunderbird 76 Bicentennial model has a full 34.5inch scale, and chrome humbucking pickups that give these basses their huge sound.Full neck-through mahogany neck, with mahogany body 'wings', this bass resonates beautifully, yet weighs a very comfortable. No breaks or repairs Has screws for bridge and pick up covers, but covers are gone. The traditional 9-ply mahogany/walnut neck through body construction provides a thundering low end response and a piano like sustain. The serial number is a decal, and starts with 00. It’s a true 1976, even though Bicentennials ran through 79. This is a rare and limited release version of Gibson's famous (and cool!) Thunderbird bass. For sale is an excellent condition Thunderbird.
